Easter bonnets and baskets at the ready as York prepares for the annual Lord Mayor’s Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday.

Hundreds of chocolate-seeking children and adults are expected to take part in York’s most delicious event of the year.

Setting out from Jorvik Viking Centre between 10am and noon there will be clues to follow to find chocolate treats donated by Hotel Chocolat. The hunt ends at the Mansion House in St Helen’s Square.

The event has been organised by York Archeological Trust in partnership with Merchant Adventurers’ Hall and City of York Council.

They hope to build on the success of last year’s event, which attracted hundreds of entries.

Head of marketing at York Archeological Trust, David Scott, said, “It’s a really fun activity for all and a great way to explore the city’s historical sights. The Hotel Chocolat treats you can gather along the way are an added bonus.”

The ticket price is £1.50 for each child, which includes free entry to the Mansion House and Micklegate Bar Museum.
