Meteor over Yorkshire

People across the region have reported sightings of a meteor that passed over the UK on Saturday night.

It was seen in the skies near York between 9.30pm and 10pm, reportedly moving southwards.

Many people on twitter reported seeing a large fireball or meteor.

One user, HellyehHutch, wrote: "Fireball spotted over the skies of Escrick near York #meteorwatch"

Another, GothboyUK, wrote: "Just saw a fireball / meteor fall over the A1 near York."

Tweeters also reported seeing it in Knaresborough, Harrogate, Skipton and across the country.
