A MAN was airlifted to hospital after his arm became trapped in a machine at a factory near York.
The victim, beleived to be in his 50s, broke his arm when it became caught in a machine at the Flatford engineering base on Elvington Industrial Estate.
Police, firefighters and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance were called to the site in York Road at about 4.15pm on Monday.
A fire brigade spokesman said the man was released from the machinery before their arrival and they helped assist the casualty, who was then taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) sent an inspector to the site to make initial enquiries.
A spokesman from Flatford said: “Although it is not what anyone wants, it was not life-threatening.
“Accidents do happen unfortunately."
