A DECISION is expected today in the case of a man who is suing one of North Yorkshire’s most prestigious private schools.
Representatives of Queen Ethelberga’s College in Thorpe Underwood Hall near York appeared before Manchester County Court yesterday, on the second day of a case brought by one of its former guardians, Dr Chuanjie Zhou.
Dr Zhou has claimed the college moved underperforming students into its “faculty” while better-performing students were moved in to the “college” to support the school’s claim to be the “UK’s top number one school” in the north of England.
The school has denied his claims and told the court he was dismissed from his work looking after 30 Chinese students in January 2011, after he allowed them to spend holidays unsupervised with friends or at hotels.
