VILLAGERS have the chance to prove their floral expertise as part of this year’s royal celebrations.
Upper and Nether Poppleton, near York, have entered the Yorkshire in Bloom competition for the first time as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
To add a bit of interest for all villagers the organisers have decided to hold a best front garden competition, which will be open to everyone who has a front garden on show to the public, with a prize for the winner.
More information will be available on a stall at an upcoming sports day, when the plan of the route the judges will be taking will be on show and entry forms for the garden competition will be available.
The Yorkshire in Bloom team of judges will be visiting the villages in the spring between March 26 and April 20 and in the summer from July 2 to 20. For more information phone either Eddie Allen, on 01904 79103, or Mike Walker, on 01904 790780.
