THE annual Lord Mayor of York’s Valentine Ball was held at the weekend to raise money for charity.
Some 250 guests donned their finest clothes to attend the event at the Voltigeur Suite at York Racecourse where they were treated to a four-course meal and live music from The Goosehorns.
An auction and “rafbola” were held to raise even more money for the Lord Mayor’s chosen charities – York Against Cancer and York And District Mind.
The Lord Mayor, Coun David Horton, said he hoped the event had raised a considerable amount of money which should have been added up within the next few days.
He said: “I think it was very enjoyable and friendly evening. We hope to have raised a lot for charity. The Valentine’s Ball is one of the year’s biggest fundraisers.”
