RESIDENTS in York are being asked to go flipping mad this Shrove Tuesday and take part in a charity pancake race through the city centre.
The event, which will take place between noon and 2pm on Tuesday, February 21, has been organised by York Churches and York City Council.
It is part of the York 800 celebrations and aims to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s charities, York Against Cancer and York and District Mind, through donation buckets along the route.
Teams of four will cover the course, approximately 50 metres, in a relay style. Each member is expected to flip their pancake four times whilst on the move.
The race is free to enter and prizes can be won, courtesy of Marks and Spencer.
Interested teams must submit a completed application form by Tuesday.
Forms can be downloaded from york800.com
