TWO suspected burglars were arrested after police spotted them pushing a lawnmower down a street in York.
A 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth were seen by officers in Boroughbridge Road heading towards the city centre during a routine patrol at about 3.20am yesterday.
The pair could not account for why they had the lawnmower and were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
The 17-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft after being found in possession of a pair of pliers, as well as on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs. Both teenagers have been released on bail.
Anybody with information should phone police on 101, select option two and ask for York Police, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
