TEENAGERS who were spotted carrying a flat-screen TV in a York street were detained for suspected burglary.
A police community support office was on patrol in Acomb at about 9pm on Wednesday when he saw a 14-year-old, who was with an 18-year-old man, carrying the television along Viking Road. The man ran off, leaving the youth, who was detained by the officer as he called for back-up, holding the TV.
Shortly afterwards, officers found the 18-year-old on Ostman Road together with a 39-year-old who was carrying a number of mobile phones. All three suspects were arrested on suspicion of burglary and are currently in custody.
The TV is believed to have been stolen in a break-in at a house on Almsford Road. Anybody with information should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
