Streets to close for Royal Salute

A STRING of streets in the centre of York will be closed to cars and bikes next Monday for the annual military parade for the Royal Salute.

The closures will be in force between 10.30am and 1pm on Duncombe Place, Blake Street, Davygate, Parliament Street, Spurriergate, Museum Gardens, Lendal, Coney Street, St Helen’s Square, High Ousegate and Museum Street, as well as the path next to the River Ouse.

College Street, Minster Place, Duncombe Place, Goodramgate and Deangate will be closed between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday for the Air Cadet Parade.

Good. The more often I see streets closed and then see how good it is to walk throught the city without fear of being mown down the more obvious it is that York could benefit from a few no-car days each week.
