PEOPLE who use and live near a Park&Ride site in York will be able to comment on plans to change the road layout for an extended site.
City of York Council’s Access York project secured £22 million in Government funding last year to improve traffic flows in the city, and part of the scheme will see the Askham Bar Park&Ride site, near Tesco in Tadcaster Road, rebuilt to include 1,100 spaces.
Outline details will be available to view and comment on from Monday until February 24, and can also be seen at york.gov.uk
Leaflets will be distributed to local residents, while the proposals will go before the Rural West York ward committee’s next meeting on February 8.
Funding has also been granted for a new 600-space Park&Ride site at Poppleton Bar.
That project includes a proposal to upgrade the A59/A1237 roundabout and provide Boroughbridge Road bus priority routes.
Coun Dave Merrett, cabinet member for city strategy, said: “These new schemes will enable our Park&Ride system to be used by more visitors, improve circulation on the outer ring road, and take a further 300,000 cars off York’s roads.”
