THESE youngsters from a North Yorkshire primary school learned about weather forecasting on a visit to one of the region’s RAF bases this week.
The students, from Sheriff Hutton Primary School, visited the meteorological section of RAF Linton-on-Ouse, and met civilian meteorologists who provide weather assessments to support pilots at the base.
Teacher Karen Banks said: “Our visit to Linton-on-Ouse was brilliant and the children learned not only about the weather and the equipment used in the Met Office to forecast the weather, but also it’s practical uses to the pilots when they are flying.
“They also learned about how designers think about the weather and temperature when designing aeroplanes and equipment for the fire engines. Most of all, the children had a fun, enjoyable day.”
