MEMBERS of the oldest horticultural society in the world have staged their final York display of flower power for the year.
The Ancient Society of York Florists, which dates back to 1768, showcased an array of colourful entries at Askham Bryan College, the regular base for its events, at the weekend.
Bishopthorpe councillor John Galvin, the society’s secretary, said: “We had a few more people through the door than usual, thanks in no small part to The Press recently featuring my cactus collection!
“ Entries have been slightly down this year due to the difficult weather, but the quality of the entries we have had has been superb.”
Anybody wanting to find out more about the society can phone Coun Galvin on 01904 704829 or email info@ancientsocietyofyorkflorists.co.uk
