Pocklington RUFC have kicked off the rugby union season with their annual summer school for juniors and minis players.

The event at the East Yorkshire club’s Percy Road ground was aimed at youngsters between the ages of six and 13, all wanting to improve their 15-a-side code skills.

“It was a very successful two days, and great fun was had by all,” said John Bryant, chairmain of Pocklington RUFC’s junior section.

“We haven’t had the event for three years, so to have a turnout of 30 children was absolutely fantastic.”

Over the two days, the participants learned a variety of skills, and got to know the training and backroom staff at Pocklington RUFC better.

“There were young players who are now interested in joining us fully after experiencing the summer school,” added Bryant.

“We also received some complimentary emails from parents about how rewarding their children found it.”
