MP Anne McIntosh in plea for rape support centre for region

A NORTH Yorkshire MP has renewed her call for a specialist centre for victims of rape and sexual assault to be set up in the region.

Anne McIntosh, who represents the Thirsk and Malton constituency, said the area’s lack of a sexual assault referral centre was “unacceptable”.

She has asked Justice Secretary, Kenneth Clarke,Home Secretary Theresa May and Health Secretary Andrew Lansley to support a North Yorkshire centre.

She also wants some of the additional £3 million a year in funding for rape support, which was recently announced by the Government, to be used to pay for the centre.

Kenneth Clarke,Theresa May and Andrew Lansley that is similar to asking all MPs to tell the truth.

Asking Ken Clarke to support this might incur the response "but how serious was the rape"
