ALL businesses in York and North and East Yorkshire that have forged inspiring links with schools – stand by for your moment of glory.

NYBEP, the Clifton Moor-based organisation which fosters communication between firms and education establishments, today announced that for a sixth year it will sponsor the Best Employer and Education Link in The Press Business Awards 2011.

An interactive entry form can be accessed on the internet at thepressbusinessawards.co.uk

Janette Gudgeon, head of NYBEP’s delivery and development, said: “We are pleased and excited to be on board once again.

“It is really important that we acknowledge the work that employers do to help young people with their life chances. There are so many responsible firms out there giving a lot of their time and support especially now when youth is facing such a difficult labour market.

“They need all the help they can get to understand their skills and strengths so that they can put them to best use.

“They also need to be inspired by the range of career paths and jobs they can do.”

NYBEP’s support for the category coincides with the development of its new website, which it launches in August at nybep.org.uk, where entrants may also find their efforts publicised as good examples of corporate-education interaction.

Janette said: “We want to hear your success stories. In so many instances in this competition we have been able to better organise the business/education links for entrants and smooth paths for further site visits.”

It is one of 15 categories in the awards this year and entrants can choose two.

Submissions by those seeking the Best Employer and Education Link title may include:

• the nature of your business, its education link and how it came about

• why you feel it is important to dedicate the business’s resources to supporting young people with their learning

• how the link has helped young people become aware of opportunities to develop themselves and their careers

• the benefits to your organisation of engaging with young people and education professionals

• the approach you adopt to building your business and education link, and how this has been received.
