THE Museum Gardens will be turned into a cinema tomorrow with a showing of a feature film, as well as the work of the city’s film students.

Visitors to the event, which will take place at St Mary’s Abbey in the Museum Gardens between 9pm and midnight, will choose their choice of feature film from 500 Days Of Summer, Black Swan, Sexy Beast, Sideways and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The film will be followed by 30 minutes of short films made by students and then a DJ set.

Event organiser James Shannon, who graduated from York St John University this year, runs Orillo Productions, a video production company he set up with five other students during their third year.

The business has already attracted big-name clients, such as retailer Jack Wills, for which it films all over the country.

He said: “We want to become more integrated with York and do things with other city businesses.” Entry will be £4 for a wristband allowing access into the Museum Gardens. Visitors will be asked to vote for their choice of film when they buy their wristband from outlets, including Sarah Coggles, LICC, Xing Smoothies, Bang Hair, Bobo Lobo and the Theatre Royal.
