New ladies division one champions Clifton ‘A’ emphasised their domination with a 6-3 win at RI Monday/Wednesday ‘A’ in the York Badminton League.

Lucy Smith and Karen Broster were in top form for the league winners and took all three rubbers with some attacking play.

Selby/Drax ‘A’ were untroubled in scoring a 9-0 home win over RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘A’ in mixed two.

Michelle Hall and Scott Anderson topped the Drax averages with three straight wins.

Selby Jubilee ‘A’ visited Tadcaster 86 ‘A’ in mixed two and were good value for a 5-4 win.

James and Ning Dawson made the difference once again with a great display that brought them another maximum haul.

Huntington ‘B’ gained promotion from mixed four after a 7-2 away win over Pocklington and a 7-2 away defeat at RI Tuesday/ Thursday ‘C’.

Paul Moisley and Carolyn Arden took five Huntington wins from the two matches and just lost out to Ellen Mooney and Soren Stendevad, who took three Institute wins for 147-104.

RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘C’ then visited Selby Jubilee and were beaten 7-2.

Some great play from Jubilee’s Peter Murphy and Steph Bevan sealed the Institute’s fate after the visitors had rallied to take four of the rubbers to a deciding end.
