HARROGATE’S world-famous spring flower show opens today, marking the centenary of the North of England Horticultural Society.
The show was being held at the Great Yorkshire Showground from today until Sunday. It will host some new show gardens, live demonstrations, stunning flower halls, a cookery theatre, flower arranging, a nature village and a children’s discovery zone.
There will also be more than 100 nursery displays and gifts, crafts and shopping. A new Gardening With Nature feature helps people discover what is living in their gardens with a wormery and “bug hotel”. The show attracted 58,000 people last year.
A spokesman said: “The 2011 Harrogate spring flower show is encouraging you into the garden this year. Garden designer, wildlife enthusiast or ecological warrior, there are ideas for everyone”.
Tickets to the event are available on the gate or online at www.flowershow.org.uk
