HOLLYWOOD legend Robert Redford called in at not one but two pubs when he visited a village near York, it has emerged.

The Press reported yesterday that the actor, director and producer went for a drink at the Ferry Boat Inn at Thorganby last Sunday night, while visiting friends.

But now Marcus Georgiou, landlord of the Jefferson Arms, has revealed Redford also came to his pub the night before to dine with his wife, Sibylle Szaggars-Redford, and their village friends.

Marcus said they enjoyed a three-course meal in a private dining area. “It was quite low key because we respected their privacy,” he said. “He was charming.”

Marcus, who said he had always been a Redford fan since seeing him as a child in the western Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid at a cinema in Filey, said it had been an honour for the actor to dine at his pub, which he had only taken over with his partner, Lisa Carrington, last October.

He revealed that actress Rula Lenska, who is currently starring in Coronation Street, had also been there with the party, and had chatted to Lisa’s son Mathew, 15, about his ambitions to get into acting.
