THE wife of York father-of-five murder victim Mark Webb has paid tribute to a “wonderful daddy”.

Susie Webb, who was with Mr Webb, aged 40, for 13 years before a recent separation, said he had been “a big part of my life and he will be sorely missed”.

She said Mr Webb was a great father to their four children and to his 21-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, who is due to give birth to what would have been Mr Webb’s first grandchild.

She gave a tribute on behalf of the children, saying: “We miss you, Daddy, love you always.”

Close friend Jackie Crouch, who had known Mr Webb for ten years, said he was “a great mate, always up for a laugh”.

After four days of cordoning off the area, police left on Monday night.

Yesterday, floral tributes were placed in the driveway of Mrs Webb’s home in Middleton Road, yards from where an injured Mr Webb was found by police officers responding to a 999 call. One tribute read: “Son. No one deserves this to happen to them. Love you always. Mum xx.” Another said: “RIP Uncle Mark. We will miss you lots and lots, even though you support Man United. We will never forget you. Sleep tight, love Rachel and Mad Max.”

Another note read: “Mark. Our love is always with you at this sad time in our lives. All our love. Paul, Darren and John.”

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, described the 40-year-old, as a “very nice guy”. “He was always friendly and chatted with everyone,” she said.

A customer at The Acomb pub, where Mr Webb was a regular customer, said he had known him for eight years.

He said: “He was just a really nice lad. He had his problems, but so does everybody.

“He was at The Acomb pretty much every day. He was there three days before it happened and he sat and played dominos like he usually does.”
