RESIDENTS have been warned about a scam involving bogus insulation salesmen.
City of York Council’s Trading Standards have been made aware of door-to-door callers offering supposedly free loft insulation to residents, including council tenants.
Grants are available for energy saving improvements, depending on a householder’s circumstances, but private tenants or home owners should arrange theirs direct with the grant-making body such as the Energy Saving Trust.
Matt Boxall, the council’s trading standards manager, said: “Whatever your situation, it always pays to thoroughly research any company offering a grant. Simple internet searches will give you a good feel for a company.”
