A woman has been struck by a train in York.
The accident happened on the York to Scarborough line, near Bootham Terrace, at about 3.45pm today.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said they had treated a woman with serious injuries, after a member of the public called 999 to say there was someone on the line.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said they had helped paramedics with "awkward access" to a patient. Rescue crews at the scene used an aerial ladder platform to bring the woman up to street level from the railway track. Paramedics assisted her into an ambulance which took her to hospital.
North Yorkshire Police said they were called to the scene at about 3.45pm. Bootham Terrace was closed but reopened shortly before 5pm.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "A woman had sustained serious injuries to her arm. She has since been taken to hospital. Her injuries aren't believed to be life threatening.
"The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."
