A 61-YEAR-OLD man was found shot dead in his car in the driveway of a neighbour’s home.
The man was discovered in his blue Ford estate at about 12.15pm yesterday at Calf Close, in Haxby.
The man died of a gunshot wound, but police say there were no suspicious circumstances and they were not looking for anyone in connection with the incident.
He was named locally as Col Coop.
Neighbour Paul Whitlom who had been allowing Mr Coop to park on his drive, said he was shocked by the incident, adding his neighbour was a “happy bloke” who loved fishing.
Mr Coop was a regular at the Haxby and Wigginton Working Men’s Club where staff there said he was a “good laugh”.
Pub manager Kirsty Gray said the man had been in the day before and seemed in good spirits. She said customers and the pub were shocked and saddened by the news.
