A DELIVERY driver has been awarded more than £500,000 compensation after he fell from his van while working in York, his solicitors said.
Colin White, a 53-year-old father of two from Altrincham, was left temporarily paralysed and has been told he will never work again, following the accident in 2005, in north York near the outer ring road.
His solicitors, Russell Jones and Walker, said Mr White and a colleague had been provided with a hire van which had a tail lift, which neither employee had been trained to use.
Mr White used the tail lift, but when he stepped back onto the platform it had been moved.
He hit the back of his neck on the tail lift as he fell and suffered several serious injuries. He is no longer paralysed but is in constant pain.
