ROADSHOWS and rides designed to break down barriers in cycling are being staged in York.

The free events have been organised by the Cycling City York programme and community interest company Get Cycling, and are aimed at those with physical and learning disabilities and problems with mobility or balance.

They will help people find bikes suited to their particular needs and provide them with cycling help and support.

Each event will boast more than 40 specialist bikes to be tried out and those attending will be encouraged to join a series of Bikes Not Barriers cycle rides, with the first being staged on December 5.

Graham Titchener, Cycling City York programme manager, said: “There is a huge range of specialist bikes for people to try and we’ve always been able to find something to suit everybody, regardless of their levels of cycling ability. We firmly believe everybody can enjoy cycling providing they’re given the right help and support and a cycle to suit their needs.”
