POLICE are investigating after a fire broke out in a toilet block of a North Yorkshire school.
The alarm was raised just before midday yesterday at Boroughbridge High School.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Boroughbridge and Ripon discovered the flames had started when paper was stuffed into a bowl and set alight.
The fire on the ground floor of the Wetherby Road site was put out just after 12.30pm and nobody was injured, with little damage being caused but the girls’ toilet block being left smoke-logged.
North Yorkshire Police are investigating the cause and a spokesman for the force said they were currently awaiting the outcome of the fire service’s report into the incident.
