Appeal to riders after biker deaths

MOTORCYCLISTS are being urged to think of their families and drive safely after a spate of deaths.

Five people have died on North Yorkshire’s roads in the past 14 days as a result of motorbike accidents, North Yorkshire Police has said, including four riders and a pillion passenger.

Deputy Chief Constable Adam Briggs said his officers were preparing for another busy weekend with thousands of bikers expected attend the Superbike Championships at Croft this weekend.

He said: “We simply do not want another needless and preventable death and all the heartache that goes with it.

“Therefore I am pleading with motorcyclists, the vast majority of whom are safe and sensible riders, to please take care and ride safely.

“Think of your families and the effect it would have on them if you left for a great weekend but did not return home.”

So far this year, 16 bikers have been killed in North Yorkshire while 15 died during the whole of last year.

I hope the death of the motorcycle thief Thomas Hodgson isn't included in the statistics. Referring to him as a 'biker' is an insult to the actual bikers who have lost their lives while riding their own motorcycles that they hadn't stolen.

Absolutely! Can we have a clarification and a retraction and an apology please Mr Briggs if you included this scumbag in your numbers. He is not a motorcyclist he's a thieving little turd who finally experienced some justice.
