PLANNED improvements to two York parks could put them in the running to secure Green Flag status.
The city already has five parks which hold the awards, and now Hull Road Park and Scarcroft Green are earmarked for a revamp.
Proposals which will go before Coun Ayre later this month include redeveloping the old ranger base in Hull Road Park and teaming up with the Bowls Association and York Probation Trust to give Scarcroft Green a facelift.
Coun Ayre will also be asked to approve future plans for some of the city’s other green spaces, including nominating a site to be part of the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge.
The scheme will give communities a chance to vote for playing fields in their area to be afforded permanent protection.
