YORK Farmers’ Market will the setting of a new television food programme for FIVE on Friday.
FIVE will be filming its new primetime food series Street Market Chefs, from 9am at the market at on St Sampson’s Square, and would like local people get involved in the filming.
The series, which is in conjunction with the Food Standards Agency, will be hosted from local food markets around the country where presenter Amanda Lamb will be joined by two local chefs who will prepare and cook dishes using local produce in a friendly cook-off.
The winner will be decided by a judging panel made up from local food circles.
Producer and director Hannah Cartledge said: “We felt that York Farmers’ Market had a great vibrancy about it and a real wealth of fresh, local, quality produce on offer. Combined with the beautiful surroundings and character, we just had to include York in the series.”
The live cook off will start at 9.30am.
