First Jack Archer awards presented at York’s Poppleton Road School

The awards, in memory of the former councillor, Lord Mayor and long-time governor of the school who died earlier this year aged 90, were presented to one child in each class who had consistently tried their best throughout the whole year.

Thirteen children received the award, along with a special prize. The presentation was made by local councillor Sonja Crisp, who is also a governor of the school and was a friend of Mr Archer.

Well done to the award winners. I thought the schools finished for summer on Friday, so why has it taken until Tuesday for The Press to report the awards.
