Nestle's new raisin-and-biscuit Milkybar tested in York

NESTLE is gearing up to unleashing its latest product on the market, and if York shoppers are anything to go by, it looks like it’s on to a winner.

The Press recently reported how a new Milkybar is going on sale. Now we have given members of the public in York the chance to taste test the new raisin-and-biscuit Milkybar before it goes on general release.

Milkybar traditionally appeals to children, but the raisin-and-biscuit version has been developed to extend the appeal of the brand to adults. More than 60 per cent of Milkybar singles are bought by adults and the launch of the new bar, accompanied by a £7 million publicity campaign, is set to further improve the brand’s sales.

Graham Walker, Nestlé UK trade communications manager, said Nestlé expected the new bar’s packaging to attract even more adults and said the new launch provided further evidence of the commitment Nestlé had to York, and helped to safeguard jobs.

The raisin-and-biscuit Milkybar, which was conceived and developed in record time at the company’s York complex, met with a welcome reception from shoppers in Parliament Street, York.

Maureen Johnston, of Clifton, said: “It’s delicious.”

Helen Rose, a student, agreed: “It’s very nice. It’s quite chewy, and very sweet, but it’s got more taste than a normal Milkybar.”

But a number of residents, including Richard Johnston, of Huntington, were put off by the addition of raisins and said they would prefer the original Milkybar. Richard Flintoft, from Huntington, said: “I really like white chocolate, but I don’t like raisins, so I wouldn’t buy this.”

Ann Garvey, of Wilberfoss, said: “It’s quite nice, but I prefer the normal Milkybar.”

Rebecca Drinkwater, of Clifton, said: “It’s very good. It’s nicer than a normal Milkybar. I prefer milk chocolate to white chocolate, but I like this.” Christina Surdhar, of Upper Poppleton, said: “It’s very nice actually. I prefer this to a normal Milkybar. I like the different textures – the biscuit and raisin work really well together.”

Isn't this type of article meant to state "ADVERTISEMENT" somewhere? Because surely this doesn't class as real news?

Surely if you work at Nestle, then you are given this information directly? I wouldn't imagine you have to rely on your local newspaper to be told about upcoming product lines!

Personally, I try to avoid buying nestlé products:
