Killer Jeremy Bamber allowed to use Facebook

ONE of the most notorious prisoners at Full Sutton jail, near York, has won a battle with prison authorities to use Facebook in a bid to have his sentence overturned.

Killer Jeremy Bamber was convicted in 1986 of shooting his adopted parents, his sister, and her six-year-old twins.

Earlier the Criminal Cases Review Commission said it was taking a fresh look at the case.

A national newspaper reported at the weekend that Bamber now wanted to use the social networking website Facebook to correspond with his supporters.

Bamber said prison authorities were denying him a proper chance to make his case by banning him from using Facebook.

In a letter to the newspaper Bamber said: “The Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice conceded that he had no defence to the case against him and I was given the decision by the deputy prison governor that I could correspond with the Facebook group who support my campaign.”
