POLICE have renewed their appeal for witnesses to a collision between two motorcycles on a North Yorkshire road.

The Yamaha Trailway motorbike and a three-wheeled Kawasaki trike collided in the middle lane of the A65 Skipton bypass, travelling towards the Grassington Road roundabout from the Gargrave Road roundabout, at about 8.15am on Tuesday, June 3.

PC Steve Beckwith said: “The fact that the vehicles collided in the centre of three lanes suggests there must have been some other vehicles around to cause them to move into the middle lane.

“I am appealing for the drivers of any vehicles that witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to the collision to get in touch as they may have information which is vital to the investigation.”

The rider of the Yamaha, a 47-year-old Bradford man, suffered numerous fractures to his right arm and leg and is in a stable condition in Airedale General Hospital.

The 45-year-old Keighley man on the Kawasaki suffered serious injuries to his head and arm during the incident, and is now in a stable condition at Leeds General Infirmary.

Police have asked anyone who saw the riders before the incident to phone PC Beckwith on 0845 6060247.
