THE Prime Minister has been invited to visit York as it celebrates the 800th anniversary of being granted a Royal charter by King John, which allowed it to take charge of its financial affairs, trade freely and create a council led by a mayor.
York Outer MP Julian Sturdy revealed that he had issued an invitation to David Cameron after it emerged that the Queen is to visit the Minster in April to distribute Maundy Money.
