In June, many people across the country will be celebrating the 60 year reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
York Libraries and Explore Centres will be marking the special occasion with an exciting range of activities and events on the weekend of 2-3 June.
Why not come along and join in the celebrations at one of our Street Parties or Tea Dances?
There will be something for all ages happening across the city in our Libraries and Explore Centres, with competitions like cake decorating and price guessing; craft events to design all sorts of ‘50s-themed creations; and games from the period like ludo, snakes and ladders, skipping ropes and hop scotch, as well as story-times for children.
There will be lots of historical displays celebrating the best of British and famous figures of the period, as well as 1950s recipe cards to show the types of food that people would have been enjoying 60 years ago.
Look out for events taking place in your local library or ask staff for further details.
