The Big City Read is coming again in July, courtesy of the council’s libraries and archives service.
This year’s book, ‘Mystery in the Minster’, by Susanna Gregory, is a medieval murder mystery set in York.
Residents and visitors alike will be encouraged to read the book and then take part in a whole programme of events based on it - including author events, children’s storytelling, taster sessions, local history talks and walking tours around the city centre.
The Big City Read programme will be launched on Sunday 20th May at York Explore - pop along and book your tickets for the events in advance.
We will be giving away 5000 free copies of the book, which has been specially commissioned for the York 800 celebrations, from 25 July.
Keep an eye on www.york.gov.uk/libraries or Twitter @YorkLibrariesUK for the latest information.
