August will once again see York's streets come alive with runners, walkers and wheelers as the annual Jane Tomlinson Run For All takes over the city.

The fun run, now in its fourth year, has seen almost 20,000 people tackle the 10K course in the name of local charities and good causes.

This year’s event on Sunday 5 August looks set to be bigger than ever as sport takes centre-stage across the country.

With an enticing flat course through York’s most picturesque surroundings, the run is a favourite with charity and experienced runners alike.

And the Run For All really is just that – for all – as the day includes a Junior & Mini Fun Run for children aged from three years old.

This year, the Run For All York 10K will support Macmillan Cancer Support, the Bone Cancer Research Trust, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Martin House Children’s Hospice and St Leonard’s Hospice. Runners can choose to fundraise for these charities, their own cause or just for fun.

As sport takes over the summer, Run For All are asking their supporters to register today to ‘Run for Gold’ and set themselves a real challenge, as Events Director Sara Birkinshaw explains: “This year is going to be a big one for sport, and so we’re encouraging everyone to take on their own personal gold. Whether that’s by achieving a personal best time, running your first 10K or raising money for charity, 2012 will be the year to go for gold.

“We’re hugely excited to be part of the York800 celebrations and have great plans afoot for making the Run For All 10K a real ‘must-do’ event of the summer. Entries are flooding in for the York 10K so we’re putting the call out now - anyone wanting to take part, sign up today!”

What’s more, those keen to smash their targets can sign up for the Yorkshire Season Ticket for £60.

This will take in the York 10K on 5 August, the Leeds 10K on 8 July and the Hull 10K on 3 June.

All profits from the Jane Tomlinson Run For All York 10K go directly to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and event partner charities.

A full programme for 2012 has been finalised, including a Walk For All and Swim For All, all three Run For All 10Ks and the Leeds Half Marathon. Registration for all places is now open at the new www.forallevents.co.uk site.
