THE return of Wilberfoss to division two was memorable for all the wrong reasons. They were overwhelmed by a Scarborough side whose victory by 295 runs may well be a league record victory margin.

Australian Ben Lloyd hit 187 on his debut for the Seasiders and may well have already won the race for the first batting award of the season.

Skipper Mark Laidler made 70 and Neil Fletcher an undefeated 63 as Scarborough amassed 361-4. Peter Beard took 5-25 to send Wilberfoss crashing to 66 all out.

Third division champions Folkton & Flixton fared much better in their first game in division two when they won by 33 runs at Dringhouses after the home side suffered a terminal batting collapse.

Dringhouses spinner Ian Bews took 5-72 but a solid knock of 79 from Gary Jones, making his debut after transferring fron Forge Valley, abetted by 25 not out from Luke Jennison, saw Flixton to 186-9.

Solid batting from John Crowe (42), Ged Fitzpatrick (25) and Danny Snaith (30) saw Dringhouses move to 101-2 but the rot then set in as James Brown took control and his figures of 6-47 saw Dringhouses collapse to 153 all out.
