Heslington have won their second Leeper Hare York and District League title trophy in successive seasons.

Last season they took the division two title and on Saturday they won 3-1 at home to Easingwold to clinch the division one championship. After the game they received the trophy from league president Brian Shearer.

Heslington took control early in the second half with two quick goals, the first from Simon Musgrave followed shortly after that by a Stuart Dickenson effort.

Mark Hutchinson reduced the deficit for the visitors before Simon Gatenby hit the third goal to take the title.

Tockwith also go up with Heslington to the premier division next season.

New Earswick are relegated to division two. Back-to-back wins for Amotherby and Elvington saw both these sides overhaul New Earswick in the table.

Amotherby beat Post Office 5-0 and then 6-0, including a Tom Moorcroft hat-trick. Elvington, still on a high over their East Riding Cup win in midweek, beat Hamilton Panthers 3-1 then 4-1.

Poppleton registered their sixth clean sheet of the season at home as they beat Hemingbrough 2-0 to take the division two championship.

Poppleton skipper Gary Wyse opened the scoring after an hour. Craig Theaker netted eight minutes from time.

Huby are celebrating their first league trophy in their 31-year history after their 7-0 win at Norton gave them the division three title. It was their 11th straight win and a personal triumph for Dave Brogan, who hit five of their goals. Simon Wilson and Arthur Broadbent completed the rout.

Promoted Osbaldwick warmed up for Tuesday's Junior Cup Final against Sheriff Hutton at Poppleton (kick off 6.30pm) with a 2-0 win at Heworth, their tenth successive game without defeat.
