THESE two students are flying high after securing offers of places at Oxford and Cambridge.

Livia King, left, and Sarah Batty, both go to the all-girls private Queen Margaret's School at Escrick, south of York.

Sarah, the school's head girl, has been offered a conditional place at Trinity College, Oxford, where she is hoping to be able to read economics and management.

Meanwhile, Livia has been offered a conditional place at Peterhouse, Cambridge, to read classics.

Dr Geoffrey Chapman, the school's head teacher, said: "We're very pleased for both these girls who are both special in their own right. Livia is the first girl from this school in over ten years to get into Oxford or Cambridge on a pure classics degree, as she is doing A-level Latin and Greek, and Sarah is an all-round sporting star, being both a county hockey player and our captain of hockey."
