Heworth 'A' continued their sequence of big wins in the York Conservative Clubs' Carlsberg UK Snooker League with a fifth 6-1 score in nine games - this time against Bootham 'A'.

Jason Milner, Richie Burdett, Kevin Gall, Brian Shipley and Steve Burdett made it 5-0 for Heworth.

Barry Rankin (29 break) scored Bootham's sole point with an impressive victory over Clive Whyte, but Mark Winskill (29, 27 unfinished breaks) made it six for leaders Heworth, who now have a 13-point advantage on the rest.

Fulford 'A' enjoyed a 5-2 success against an understrength Acomb 'A' to consolidate second place.

Glen Mountain, Richard Stroughair (25 break), Wayne Hartley and Jeff Brown won for Fulford and there was a walkover for Peter Dunmore against replies by Peter Lawson and Adrian Barraclough to make it 5-2.

Heworth 'B' edged out Bootham 'B' in a close-fought match. Wins for Heworth by Tony Tennyson, Huw Faircliffe and Mick Frampton were matched by Bootham's Ray Stamp, George Long and Lionel Barnes.

Brian Birch took the last frame to earn Heworth a 4-3 success which keeps them in third place and favourites for the John Smith's 'B' team trophy.

Acomb 'B', who had not won a match this season, surprised Fulford 'B' by going 3-0 up with wins by Steve Rodgers, Jeff Keen and Kevin Ventress.

However, Fulford responded and Ray Thackway (22 break), Arthur Pegden, Bob Smith and Nigel Smith took the remaining frames to gain Fulford a 4-3 victory. Fulford 'B' moved up one place to joint fourth with Bootham 'A'.

Jason Milner (Heworth), Glen Mountain (Fulford) and Arthur Pegden (Fulford) continued their unbeaten run and continue to lead in the Willsden Steel Player of the Year competition with nine wins.
