BILLY McEwan put Saturday's defeat down to being 'just one of those days' after a change of personnel proved too little too late to reverse York City's fortunes.

City boss McEwan brought on Bryan Stewart and Ryan Mallon in the latter part of the Conference clash against lowly Burton Albion - but it was not enough.

He said: "Our approach work was good up to a point. We created some good situations and just couldn't finish them.

"A point was no good to me sitting at 0-0 I decided to throw Bryan Stewart on and go for it and they caught us on the counter attack and it was a poor goal.

"He (scorer Chris Hall) has travelled a long, long way and the lad's actually a right- footer but he's gone through and shot with his left foot through a sea of our defenders and legs and the keeper's unsighted, and it's gone in.

"It's disappointing - especially for the fans and the players as they worked their socks off. We didn't get the break through and then they got it."

He added: "Ryan Mallon came on and gave us more width and more penetration and he set up Andy Bishop for a chance. You would have put your house on Bishop to score from there - but it was just one of those days.

"We have come back from games where we have been behind and we have won games. In certain areas we didn't keep the ball enough, especially in the first half, we gave the ball away too easily.

"On another day we would have won the game but today, all credit to Burton Albion because they worked their socks off and you wouldn't have thought they were a bottom four team."
