With One Yorkshire Two league game still to play, Scarborough gained promotion into Yorkshire One next season following their emphatic 52-0 home victory over Northallerton.

They left their nearest rivals for the Yorkshire 2 title, Sheffield Tigers, behind as the Tigers could only manage a 12-12 draw at Ilkley.

Scarborough scored seven tries in all through centre Rob Bell, Ian Warwick, Phil Barker and Andy Holloway leaving their Kiwi, Marcus Edwards, to clean up 17 points with his prolific marksmanship.

Victory for Ripon at Yarnbury in Yorkshire One was snatched from under their noses by a last minute converted try from swift winger Paul McNulty.

Steve Galbraith added the conversion to his four earlier penalties.

Ripon's lock, Paul Goldsmith, and winger George Whitaker scored Ripon's tries and Scot McCara added a conversion and a penalty.

In their last Yorkshire Six league game of the season Nestl Rowntree, containing eight of their 'veterans' side, went down 58-15 to Wharfedale Rams after pluckily fighting back from being 17-0 down at one stage to 17-15.

'Trees were indebted to their 51-year-old front five forward, Bob West, who was pressed into service for his first game of the season.

Fly half Oliver Turner and hooker Joff Sowray scored tries and their skipper, Dave Sowray, played at No. 8 despite a rib injury to help himself to a conversion and a penalty goal.

Former York RL star Graham Steadman led Yorkshire One champions Cleckheaton to a 43-14 victory against Pocklington.

Steadman, now assistant coach at Castleford Tigers, scored a try and produced an all-round eye catching display.

Wilman and Anderson got Pock's tries, converted by Taylor.
