Civil Service wrapped up their 27th successive York and District Netball League title, being the only team to win all their matches.

They only conceded one point and that came against their nearest rivals Ladybirds in the last match of the campaign.

The final score of 53-32 in Civil Service's favour gave Ladybirds the distinction of being the only team to have scored more than half the number of all-conquering Service's winning tally.

The powerful shooting of Jayne Collins, Sheridan Hutchinson-Jones and Sam Teader saw Service amass 1,116 goals in 20 matches - 255 more than their nearest rivals.

Solid centre court play by Teader, Zoey Chelton and Angela Hetherton often kept the ball in Service's attacking court and dominant defending by Margi Charlson, Briz Mennell and Anna Evans made life difficult for opposing shooters. Only 347 goals were scored against the strong Service defence.

Millers 'A' will return to the top flight after a couple of years in the second division.

They had a much better goal average than second-placed Rawcliffe I, each having beaten each other in the fight for the top. Rawcliffe, demoted last year, also go up as runners-up.

Barlby I, promoted as division four champions two seasons ago, won the third division title this time.

Beaten only by Millers 'B', they saw off all other opposition.

They finished ten points ahead of runners-up Dringhouses who returned to division two at the first time of asking.

Rufforth are celebrating a double promotion. Their 'B' team won division four and their 'C' team took the fifth division title.

Barlby's young 'A' team finished fifth in division two after being promoted last season.

Joining Rufforth 'B' in the third division will be Ladybirds 'B' and Rawcliffe IV's young team, in their first season in the league, went up as runners-up to Rufforth 'C' after being edged out on goal average.

The North Yorkshire Netball Association annual meeting will be held at the Ainsty Hotel on Tuesday, May 1.

The York and District Netball League annual meeting will be held at Dringhouses Sports Club on Tuesday, May 8.
