STRAP in for the ride of your life as Le Mans comes to the PlayStation 2. Test your endurance and skill as you power round tracks for up to 24 hours.

Whether your PlayStation blows up before you finish is a moot point - but if it does, you can blame your failures on technical problems.

Take the wheel in one of three classes of car and put the pedal to the metal as you scream round bends and race through the day and night. Tweak the car to your heart's delight in professional mode or burn rubber straight from the off on the amateur setting.

This game looks slick and plays like a dream, especially with the use of both analogue sticks controlling speed and direction. And there's a wealth of options to choose from and a great email system to read messages from your team.

Do well and bigger and better teams will try to poach you.

Do badly, and you'll be in the pits.

But it doesn't quite match up to the mighty Gran Turismo 3 even if you can play split screen with your mates with up to four computer-controlled cars - a feature which GT3 does not offer.

Flash your lights at slow drivers, watch the sun rise as you race and listen to Top Gear's Tiff Needell's comment and analysis too.

Great to play, great to look at, but it doesn't quite reach the benchmark of Sony's giant offering.
