York voters have been reminded of their right to demand a referendum on whether the city should be led by a directly-elected, U.S-style executive mayor.
Under the Local Government Act, just over 7,000 voters in York - five per cent of the city's total electorate - would need to put their names to a petition for a referendum to be held.
