THE Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations in York may be a low-key affair.
Only five applications have been made to City of York Council for permission to hold street parties in June - a far cry from the thousands who held parties to celebrate the Millennium, and the Silver Jubilee 25 years ago.
Peter Evely, head of Highway Regulation and Safety at the council, said: "This mirrors the experience of my colleagues in other councils around the country. Maybe closer to the event we will get more happening."
Applications for permission to hold a street party cost £20 and must be in by May 1.
