AN EXCITING new exhibition that has been in preparation for months is now open to visitors in York.

The Flight exhibition, which tracks the conquest of air and space by man and animals, is now in the Yorkshire Museum, in the Museum Gardens.

Organised by City of York Council, the show offers visitors the opportunity to discover the mythology, history and science of flight.

A council spokeswoman said: "A wealth of specimens will be on display including large-scale insect models, and casts of feathered dinosaurs.

"It traces the origins of flight from the very first flying insects to the most recent advances in space technology."

To complement the exhibition, daily demonstrations of birds of prey in flight will be held in the museum until Sunday.

The Yorkshire Museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm. Admission is £3.95 each for adults, £2.95 concessions, £11.50 for families or free with a Yorkcard.
