SHOPPERS got a treat when television pin-up Jason Durr came to York to film a scene from popular ITV soap Heartbeat

The production team took over the top end of Fossgate yesterday, as crowds gathered excitedly to catch a glimpse of the action.

Jason Durr, who plays PC Mike Bradley, was filmed riding up the street on his motorbike, before entering the Army and Navy Store.

The shop had part of its sign taken off and its interior altered to give it a 1960s feel.

A group of school pupils dashed down the street between takes shouting hello at their hero, who gave them a quick wave back.

Jason signed some autographs and posed for photos when filming was over, before being whisked away to London.

Judy Georgiou, manager of the Army and Navy Store, was thrilled to see her favourite soap star in the flesh.

"He's a very nice man," she said.

The shop will apparently be called Foxtons' when it appears on the small screen later this year.

The filming did cause a little confusion, when some onlookers saw actors in police uniform and thought there may have been a genuine incident in the street.

The scene features in the sixth episode of the new series, when PC Bradley is on a walking tour and gets involved in a feud with the fictional shop owner.
